Our work with the university involves designing and developing platforms that showcase cutting-edge research, making these important advancements accessible and engaging for a global audience.

Verbatim

The Verbatim Formula is a collaborative participatory art project that uses verbatim theatre techniques to attend to the voices of care-experienced young people, care leavers, and adults responsible for their care and education. It is aimed at creating opportunities for young people to be heard in systems and services that are responsible for their care.

OLA

OLA Study is aimed at helping the research team to map which characteristics, resources and activities may stop young people from mental healt issues and aid recover, particularly from depression and anxiety.

They work with young people living in Buenos Aires (Argentina), Bogotá (Colombia) and Lima (Peru) aged 15-16 years and 20-24 years.

The research programme started in November 2019 and will last 5 years, funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC) and the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) in the UK. OLA is a collaboration with researchers from Universidad de Buenos Aires (Argentina), Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Colombia), Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (Peru), University College London, King’s College London (UK) and coordinated by Queen Mary University of London (UK).

PIECEs’ research programme explores, adapt and test a low-cost, generic approach (DIALOG+) that makes use of existing resources to improve community-based care for patients with psychosis and reduce the need for institutionalisation in India and Pakistan. DIALOG+ is an app-mediated intervention that has been shown to improve mental health outcomes.

BRICS

The BRiCs study is a research programme lasting 3 years, funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC) in the UK. BRiCs is a collaboration with research teams from Queen Mary University London (QMUL) and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. There are approximately 5.2 million adolescents currently living in Colombia. From 14 to 16 years, a changing reality is experienced with biological, psychological, and social maturational changes making adolescents more vulnerable to mental health problems and other psychosocial difficulties.

VAWG

Transnational Perspectives on Urban Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) is an interdisciplinary project that examines the localised and transnational dynamics of VAWG experienced by women in the Complexo da Maré, a favela community in Rio de Janeiro, and among Brazilian migrant women in London.
